Absolutely, you would go buy a pair of shoes at Shoe Town, and get a free ticket to watch Pistol Pete in the dome. It was a New Orleans tradition. I remember kids in school scraping their shoes on the concrete to wear them out so they'd have to go get a new pair.

I remember going to the Superdome and buying $2 tickets...
Once we were in, we would make our way down to as close to the court as we could get

I missed the 68 point game.
But you reminded me of a funny story.
One night they gave everybody a free frisbee that came to the game.
One or two were thrown on the court...then a few more
Then the announcer said “please refrain from throwing the frisbees on the court”
Well immediately everybody threw their frisbees on the court!
Awesome sight.
