I just ran into 6 tickets and am trying to figure out the cheapest way t travel there. Rv seems expensive and I would think hotels would be booked. Any ideas? If you are going, what are your plans

Do yourself a favor and stay home. Gainsville is one miserable frickin experience.
Get back with me on that.

I live in G-ville... word is most hotels are booked in town already... if you fly it is about the same to fly into Jacksonville, Tampa or Orlando (Jax is a little closer but you have to take back highways to get to G-Ville... Orlando is second closest but there are tolls - about $12 both ways)
Southwest flights into Tampa or Orlando from NOLA is the way to go IMO... rent a car... hotels are best found arund Ocala area, which is about 35 mins south straight interstate

nah, $11 or 12 total round trip
not that it would keep people away necessarily, but my point is that flying into Tampa airport is really the best option IMO... it is about a 2 hour drive (all interstate) to G-ville but only a little over an hour to Ocala, which is where many are staying
Orlando is about an hour from Ocala - all interstate.... Jax is the closest airport to G-ville but it is about an hour and 15 mins or so through a bunch of back highways.
I work in Ocala and live in G-ville and I fly into NOLA all the time and Tampa is my fave drive and airport... plus, Southwest rates are usually best from NOLA into Tampa
just my experience on the matter

ME! WE're flying out of Laffy to Gainesville on a carrier for Delta. $450 per ticket. Sucks but we're going with other people who didn't want to fly anywhere but into Gainseville.
