Is open for business and is ready for guests. Just got back from there today. What a wonderful time.

Coldest day was 75 and breezy.

I’ve not seen a single negative review on here if that place. What’s the vibe? Chill and booze in the pool all day? Club it up in town at night?

Went two years ago with two other couples, great time had by all. It’s more of a chill and booze at the pool experience in my opinion. Looking to go back this summer actually.

Food exceeded expecations, which admittedly werent very high. Room service breakfast was great, lunch at the beach or the pool restaurants was good. The nice French restaurant is great and the hibachi place is awesome. Ordered a bunch of apps from room service once and they werent any good. Service is everything at that place, the staff really takes care of you. A day on Isla Mujeres is a must-do. Think the prices range from like $400-$750/night per room depending on if you do the club and whatnot

Are there any restrictions currently at the resort? Did you feel like you were missing out on anything?

We love going to the excellence resorts and posting up at the swim up bars and meeting new people. Did you still feel like you could do that?

You can do anything, they dont require masks at the resort and actually advertise it on their site. Some tables might be more spaced out but there’s no one policing anything, pretty sure they have on site testing for coming back to US as well

I think the resort is at half capacity right now which is actually really nice unless you want to meet a ton of people and party with them

I dont see how anyone could have a negative review unless they did no research and had no idea what they were getting into

Go to Isle mujures and rent a golf cart one day. You can take a cab and ferry yourself instead of paying a premium through the resort

The nighttime entertainment was the shite. Wife and I laughed our asses off at the Michael Jackson and African nights. Was a damn blast.

The mango coladas

I stayed at Secrets with my wife 3 years ago on our Honeymoon. It was fantastic. Only reason we went secrets is because a friend of ours is a preferred member and it saved like 20% and made the check-in process 100% better.

That said, every person I know who has gone to Excellence has said exactly what you just did. Unbeatable. Excellence or Unico is next for us.

Are the prices advertised on the site the cheapest available? Someone in another thread mentioned discounts available but I’m not sure where to find them.

We went to UNICO in December and it was not good in my opinion. The beach was great for snorkeling but everything else about the resort besides the rooms sucked. There were multiple resorts we’ve been to that cost way less than UNICO that we liked better. Service was slow due to being understaffed, they advertise that the food is 5 star food but in reality it just looked 5 star and tasted 2 star, no night shows or night life in general. I thought we could blame some of it on COVID but we went to secrets during COVID and it was 100 times better than UNICO

The only thing I’ll say about comparisons to others is the two times we have been, one couple talked about how they’ve been “everywhere” and that it’s the best and the other had been to sandals, other excellences, and they said EPM is the best.

I love it. Won’t be five years before my next trip.

Covid prep was awesome. On site testing. Staff wears masks. Everything spaced out.

Nobody gives a frick unless you want to. A few bars closed and one restaurant closed because of the restrictions.

We did hibachi with randos, ended up being people from Thibodaux.

What a fun time.

Also, the first day an old buddy of mine and his wife sit down next to us on the beach. No idea we were both going.

Hibachi was cool. Chez Isabelle was awesome. Do the aqua therapy at the spa. It’s included if excellence club. I think it’s $100 for the couple if not. It’s a neat water spa experience. It’s about an hour long. Gives you a taste of the massage.

Last time the wife and I did that and rolled straight into a couples massage. That was awesome. Admittedly, it would probably be better doing it at home and saving the half day at the beach.

Get the excellence club and the covered beds. Get out there at 7 am and get one and Luis will keep it for you all day. It’s worth it.
