I’ve been away from my dear Louisiana for several years now and didn’t realize the legislature legalized medical marijuana in November of 2020.

Louisiana law now allows doctors to recommend medical cannabis for any medical condition the physician “considers debilitating to an individual patient” that the physician is qualified to treat. The law also lists several qualifying conditions, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ALS, traumatic brain injury, and chronic pain associated with sickle cell anemia or fibromyalgia.

My question: even if you convince a doctor to prescribe you medical MJ, how do you fill the Rx? Can you roll up to a Walgreens, or are there specific dispensaries that have to fill the order?

I could see a situation in LA where although it’s legal, there are no pharmacies that carry cannabis because of muh Jesus.

Probably not worth it in Louisiana.

They have about 8 or 9 pharmacies across the state. Each one is located in a major city. When I used it, it was expensive as frick and it was only a tincture.

Louisiana does not offer any legal smokable form of marijuana at this time.

They legalized it, but Louisiana only allows you to purchase/sell tinctures with no psychoactive properties. Oh and the only manufacturer the state allows to make the tinctures is Southern University.

I don't think traditional pharmacies anywhere in the country fill medical marijuana scripts

Specific dispensaries have to open that are able to fill medical use prescriptions. No where in the country could you ever, ever go to a place like Walgreens and fill those prescriptions.

One day, when adult use is legalized in LA, those medical stores will need a second license if they want to sell adult use cannabis (which is where the real money is). They'll likely have to be vertically integrated, which is a pain in the arse.

You start to realize that you dont have to look over your shoulder near as much..

New Orleans kicked arse back in the 1790s-1840s though, most of you guys would've enjoyed it.
