Bryce Anderson LSU lean?

Watching BTJ’s decision livefeed on IG I noticed Bryce Anderson, Laterrence, and Walker Howard chatting it up.
When Walker called BTJ a tiger, Laterrence said “my qb” and Bryce replied “OUR QB!”
If he’s solid on us, our safeties room is going to be looking good for a long time.

Would be nice to lure him back in

He was chatting it like he’s good friends with them and likes BTJ so who knows???

Bryce is going to play the game for a awhile. He has LSU, TAMU and Texas in his pocket currently.

I would rather us take Jacoby Matthews at safety personally. The kid is a big, hard hitting, physical safety. We have been missing that since Grant Delpit has been gone.
Matthews looks like he will grow into a monster sized safety, and as long as he keeps his speed, its something we could really use in the secondary.

Aggie bound don’t fall for it

Obviously we want Matthews, but we want Anderson as well. LSU is clearly taking 2 safeties in this class. We had 2 committed previously. Matthews and Anderson would be a ridiculously good haul. They are teammates on the bootleggers and that can’t hurt.
It isn’t one or the other. LSU wants both.

LSU better step up their recruiting game if they want either of them

Is Mathews going to actually play safety? Hes already 210 or more as a HS junior right?? I see him as a LB, especially since our LB options in 2022 seem limited.

Jacoby feels like he is going to turn in a LB per the boards

That’s a good point. He is a big dude. That pic of the bootleggers someone posted a week or so back he looks huge compared to everyone else. He seems to have really good ball skills though. Reminds me of a couple different hybrid S/LB type guys: Kam Chancellor, Su’a Cravens, Josh Harvey-Clemons

His game isn't like Grant Delpit at all. Delpit was 180 lbs coming into LSU. As a HS Junior, Matthews is 205. He's going to play LB or some hybrid LB/S.

Eh, there have been quite a few big safety's that have had great careers in the NFL, and a few of them played for LSU.
Are you telling me that Chad Jones, and Laron Landry weren't great safety's at LSU? Both were over 215lb safety's at LSU and Landry got much bigger in the NFL.
A bigger dude at safety is an advantage not a disadvantage as long as they don't sacrifice speed for size. If you can keep your speed then being a bigger dude at safety is a good thing.

Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit? I said his game isn't like Grant Delpit.

And your argument is completely irrelevant to Matthews being a bigger safety.
If he wasn't being used like Delpit in high school, but has the speed to play a traditional safety position, it doesn't mean he can't transition into it. Because he is a big kid doesn't preclude him from being able to play a traditional safety, unless he just doesn't have the speed to do it.

I don't see how matthews plays anything other than a hybrid linebacker to start out.

Think about how much the game has changed since then. Landry would be a linebacker in modern college football.

Sounds like Florida may be one to watch for him
Ponchatoula (LA) four-star safety Jacoby Mathews continues to speak very highly of the Florida Gators early on in the 2022 cycle. Mathews was in heavy contact with the Gators before he was offered in January and he's been talking with the staff even more following the offer. Mathews was actually initiating a lot of the contact early, which shows his interest level in the program.

Kam chancellor was a very big safety and was a pro bowler in the NFL.
Isaiah Simmons the "linebacker" from clemson played much more like a safety on college. They always had him in pass coverage, and he was very effective at it.
In fact he still is better in pass coverage today than shedding blocks a d playing the run.
There is still a place in the game for big safeties. There isn't a place in the game for big, slow safeties.
