Home Chef Boxes

So the wife has been getting Home Chef boxes the past couple of weeks through a promo on her Amex card. The first week came out to about 40 cents a meal. Has anyone else had these delivered to them? Five meals in a box, pick your own menu choices. They're pretty good, perfect for two people. I'm interested in seeing if others have tried this and what you thought of them.

Once the promo ends it will be a hell of a lot more than that.
I tried Hello Fresh for a little while due to a promo of some kind. It was pretty good quality food, but once it went to full price I just didn't feel like doing it anymore.
The recipes were all pretty easy to follow, but still ended up taking 20-30 minutes to prep.

We have three weeks of promo prices. Full price we probably won't do it but she gets promo deals through her Amex card all the time, so we'll see. Plus they give you the recipe cards and a binder, you can go to the grocery store and buy the needed ingredients for a meal.

We’ve been getting two meals per week for several weeks. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meals. My only complaint is that there is a lot of trash (box, liner, bags, ice packs, etc.)

I can't say we mind the packaging too much. Today's box was a day late and everything was good to go.

I use Hello Fresh. The family friendly menu is better for my 14 year old. We do two a week because if I do more, they tend to run into each other. He loves all the pastas and tortilla meals. I mix in a curry or other exotic every once in a while. Just another great way to enjoy bourbon and LaCroix.

We just got invited to join their Recipe Testing Society. They're sending us three recipes not available yet. We need to cook 'em up and review them.

Did it during early covid and canceled for a variety of reasons, main one being that it would be delayed an extra day almost every week and we had to scramble to get dinner. Wasn't their fault it happened, but it was throwing us off too much.
Some of the other reasons for canceling were that we got ingredients that had gone bad been several times, had items missing a few times, and the nutritional content was too high for weeknights unless you strategically chose the simpler chicken/veg options.
It was fun for a temporary time though. I have some coupons for Every Plate right now, which is one of the ones I haven't tried, so I may try it until the promo ends.
