What is that humidifying disc in the top left?

Humidifying beads. I’ve been researching best way to maintain, and I’ve come across a decent amount of literature saying this is the best solution. Here’s a LINK to them. They both absorb and release moisture, and they are supposed to maintain at a specific humidity. I bought 65%.

Problem is my humidifier is not holding humidity. Can’t get it above 62 no matter what I do. I’m returning and trying a new one. It arrives tomorrow.

Again this is very new to me, so I could be doing shite all wrong. Learning process

Did you season your humidor first? Don't know which one you bought, but seasoning is crucial. If you're going by an analog hygrometer, make sure to calibrate using the salt method. Digital hygrometers are obviously more accurate (cigar oasis recommended).

Also look into Bovedas. They're the best humidifiers in the industry. It's 2 way as well. I use 65%.

Get a couple bovita packs and throw it in the humidor. They work great and I can rehydrate them when they are getting crunchy by putting them in a sealed Tupperware with a shot glass of distilled water.

Stick them in a ziploc or airtight Tupperware container with the humidifying disc in the meantime. I also swapped out my 65s with 69s a while back, but that’s a personal preference.
