Many people on here complain about the Alabama bump, hasn't LSU earned an LSU bump?

LSU has put more players in the NFL in the last few years than anyone. Many of those players were rated 3 and 4 stars and ended up not only in the NFL but early starters and stars. This speaks well of LSU scouting ability.

We won't earn a bump until our subscription numbers meet theirs.

This hasn't been true for several years now.

14 drafted last year tied the record for most in a season.

People on here are delusional about this shite.

The fact is that Langlois and Bech both got a 4th star after committing with us. Nussmeier has been shooting up the board all year. Saivion Jones has risen a ton since committing to us. 247 gave Maason his 5th star after he signed. Kiner got a 4th 247 star after he signed. etc etc etc.

People just dont want to hear it. They want there to be some type of grand conspiracy by 247 against LSU.

But there isn't one.

People are gonna go up when they get big offers. I'd trust that as a rating vs some dork with frat hair who walked on at Harvard to scout talent.

The bama bump used to be when they'd take the 11th ranked OT bama commit and rank him as the #1 center right at the last second and then the 9th rated safety would get moved to the #1 athlete. Rivals did that a lot before 247 existed to sneak bama up the rankings.

Anyone that thinks Bama recruits get an undeserved "bump" clearly has not been paying attention to CFB the last 15 freaking years

Give it a rest flogging your straw man. No one here believes there is an anti-LSU conspiracy at 247.

I am not saying Bama commits don't deserve the bump. Clearly the recruit rating services know that Bama Coaches do a better job analyzing recruits than they do. I am saying LSU deserves that same treatment based on the number of LSU commits that have "over-achieved."

well i think that idea that recruiting services just bump players because they committed to or were offered by Alabama is largely a myth or more like a coincidence. The services release their rankings at certain times, there are players that move up with new rankings. sometimes it's after big camps or he had a great Jr season or something which also brings big offers. I know its popular to bash the recruiting services but they can and do watch players and evaluate them, if a guy is really good chances are he will get offers from places like Bama and LSU

That’s not completely true. Before he left for Vandy, Barton Simmons flat out admitted that 247 will immediately re-evaluate and give benefit of the doubt in that evaluation, if Bama offers a kid they don’t have very high. I’ve heard them address the Bama Bump by name on their podcasts and this is what they say.

I get why this happens, but it’s pretty fricking lazy on their part considering what they charge for their product and how they present their rankings as being accurate at determining future NFL success. If you listen to their podcasts, they lay that shite on very thick. If they are as good as they say, then such bumps shouldn’t come just because of who is recruiting a player.

In reality, I think this is a good indication that a lot of guys who work for 247 aren’t that good at evaluating. Their top guys are, but if you put the rank and file in a vacuum without them knowing what coaches (not just Bama, but other top P5 programs, as well) thought of players, they would miss all over the place. For all their analytics, they still depend on the real experts to figure out who is who.

that’d be great if the stars were for NFL talent, but they’re for college talent

247 says their 5 stars are the prospects they believe will be 1st round NFL Draft picks. Their entire model is based around predicting NFL draft rankings based on high school performance.
