Correct but they know they will have an almost impossible time getting rid of it now. They opened the door. The best they MIGHT can do is tighten the absentee ID laws which are in effect in numerous states.
Signature verification is horse shite.
HOWEVER...be watchful of them trying to say typing in a voter ID number or Drivers license number IS verifying ID. This would actually be a backwards step and make it even easier to cheat.

Unfortunately, this isn't going to happen. There isn't support for this. The optics and the suppression screaming will be too much. Not with 30% of the people voting this way. They best they can do at this point is get the two forms of ID in place. This would drastically tighten things up.
