But if that's what she wanted, and if you really think she'll shoot it enough to become proficient, might be a good choice.
Not much you can do about the recoil except load it with wadcutters (assuming you can find them). The trigger pull can be reduced a little with lighter springs - maybe 2-3 pounds -- without sacrificing reliability. But if you try that, be sure you use a good gunsmith.
I'm sitting here trying to remember the name of the guy down in Ascension Ph. (I think it was Lloyd Landry) who shot IPSC, was a very good shooter, was a reliable reloader and was a very good gunsmith (wasn't his day job but he was very good). If you could engage him, or someone of his caliber (pun intended), that could become a handgun that she might practice with.
