Traps don't put a dent in the hog population. Neither does running dogs. You know what would? Poison and that's a Fact.
If you think a corral trap will keep catching hogs you're out of your mind. They wise up to that real quick.
There are methods to increase success with traps. I kill hundreds per year in traps. A few select traps in the correct locations are frequent producers able of catching hogs every month. Others need to be moved for maximum effect.
Adding hunting pressure with thermals or NV on areas a few hundred yards away but adjacent to the traps increases trap success when they get trap shy as does rotating baits.
But if you want to keep pigs off your property you need to properly fence it off and then trap and hunt the pigs inside until none remain and finally maintain the fence.
You can kill 100% of today's hogs and you won't keep them off because new ones will move in in short order.
