This is how things are manipulated in my neck of the woods. Each of the 6 high schools has a special program. One is an International Baccalaureate school, one has the Ag program, another has Health Science Academy, one partners with a community college to do various things (fire safety, mechanical work, etc).

There are some star athletes around here that will utilize those programs to enroll at the school of their choice. That’s if they don’t use a relative’s address.

The only thing I do not like about Texas football is the pay to play issue

There are districts, I.e. Katy that basically tell you to join the booster club to even get a chance to be on the team.

I like like booster clubs but to use it as a way to field your team is not the true spirit of it. I believe Carrol and many others do that. I believe teams like Ellison have no shot because of this.
