It’s been Nielsen all along. Young, up and coming, done some DC duties in the past according to his resume. Extensive college coaching including recruiting duties. Strong ties to Orgeron in stints at USC and Ole Miss.

While i somewhat agree with you, O is setting himself to left at the altar again. Nielsen will be sought after for numerous NFL positions.

Time will tell.......

If it is Nielsen he should be able to recruit the D line extremely well. He’s proven that he can develop d lineman at the highest level.

I agree, the further the Saints go into the playoffs, the more his stock rises.

After Freeman's jilting, I read the leaves, and believe this is the play.
Orgeron saying he wants to wait, and is in no hurry means Nielsen is coming, and they need to wait for him to be done with the Saints season.
I am okay with this.

He’s coming as long as LSU is the top offer he gets

There’s no reason to be super secretive or put on a charade. If you have a deal, put pen to paper! Freeman was a done deal...kiffin was a done deal...how many “silent” commits?

Nielsen would be a good hire in my books but it’s not a guarantee at all.

Yeah, that could become a problem going head to head with NFL teams.

Then why wait to sign a contract? Doesn’t keep him from finishing his job with the Saints. Didn’t bother sark from coaching in the CFP

He’s 41. Don’t know anything about a family/young kids. He would be making significantly more at LSU and wouldn’t have to uproot a family. That’s was a big factor with Freeman, like it or not.

Not if he gets any NFL DC offers this off-season.

Avoiding Distractions will be the common excuse, like it or not.

Do we really know what has been agreed to/signed?

I don't think he's all that interested in the position to be honest. We're going to wind up just elevating Raymond. Another coach that no other major program targeted for DC. Just like Ensminger at OC, just like O at HC.

They were at the 1 with another guy after O said it'd be done by yesterday but it's been Neilsen all along?

Then the Napier era starts sooner than expected.
