You seem to be scoffing at the idea that less rules are better and common sense and common courtesy should be the guide. Why is that?.

Because people will push the limits no matter what. You really cannot anticipate what guys will do thinking their actions have no effect on others. What you think is the line on courtesy, others disagree with. If you're fine with a complete free for all, by all means have few or no rules. I want no part of that after seeing it in real life.

And it's even worse with family because you still have to see them at gatherings and funerals.

Some people are super competitive about hunting. They will break any rules to stay "ahead" of other people. In the past we had issues with people shooting all their deer in the first week and then being so bored the rest of the season they end up bothering everyone else by riding around.

Damn, I just wouldn't hunt with people like that.

on point.

i hunt with 6 people that i love and cherish, not strangers. Dad, brothers, BIL, nephews etc. There are plenty of times we get pretty agitated at each other. Of course we get over it, but it's hard to get people to agree over which deer to shoot, how many does, what time to get to stands, joyriding, shooting for recreation,.....but our biggest issue is, where and where not to put up stands.

we make it all work, but i can't imagine having those same and worse issues with a bunch of guys i dont know.

People that place loud arse pipes on their trucks and put on those bright arse lights. Those people should be excluded from hunting licenses.
