Best Place for Big Bucks & Trophy Bass

These two seem at odds for the most part based on survival needs.
If you had to pick a spot in the US with close access (1/2 hour drive or less), where are you living?

Alabama. Factor in off shore fishing and fertile ground for growing.

Missouri. Good sized deer and good fishing. I don’t drive anywhere as we have deer and bass in our property.

Texas, even East Texas has Big Bucks.

Texas is easily the answer. Solid runners up are probably Arkansas and Alabama. I'd say anywhere in the central deep south is going to give you great fishing lakes and great deer woods.
You need pine thickets and cooler Temps in the winter and large, reservoir type lakes in the summer.
I'd imagine Central/Northern Mississippi and parts of Tennessee have great spots as well for both deer and bass, but they're not as heralded it seems. Plus, I don't know much about them.
All I know is this, in Arkansas, I routinely see folks shooting 10-12 point bucks in the winter and catching 6+ lb bass every summer.

Yup. And ducks. Here close Lake Monticello and Columbia produce 14-15lb bass as does White Oak in Camden. Have routinely caught 7lb plus in Ouachita River and Felsenthal. The delta has beastly arse deer, big arse bass in Lake Chicot and ducks. More affordable for the most part. Felsenthal has some big arse deer that's been trophy managed. Nice camp areas. Great squirrel hunting. Duck hunting can be world class and you get to enjoy it with 700-800 other hunters.

My stepdad has had a camp on the river in Felsenthal for twelve years or so. You can only access by boat. It’s two railroad cars tied together, Floating on buoys, anchored by cables to trees on the banks. It’s always been a nice duck spot but I guess I better go try it for deer.

I would say bass fishing in Alabama is better than Ga but there is no area of Alabama that the deer hunting that you could compare to here in South Georgia.

Adams County MS. State record bass. Most all of the top record deer in the state.
But it's already full so Texas would be next

Pickwick has the state record for smallmouth. My buddy has a picture of a deer swimming across part of yellow creek lesiurely. We see deer regularly year round on bay springs lake just south of it. saw a small buck this year but it is WMA land and I don't think many hunt it. Up and down the tenn tom waterway in Mississippi and all along the TVA lakes in northern alabama have big deer and some of the best bass fishing there is, but don't tell everyone.
If you want to throw in striped bass then you can add Smith Lake to the mix. Gotta be some deer in Bankhead NF and Sipsey Wilderness. There are a lot of great spots in the south for both and I'm gonna retire on a lake with hunting not too far away. I may be 80 when I achieve this but i'm gonna make it happen.

Lots of restrictions, but all for good IMO. I don't mind working for a deer. No motorized vehicles. Mountain bikes ok I believe. And with OnXHunt or whatever it is. Makes it easy to find those hard to get to honeyholes. I like to take a public land deer from time to time. That's how I grew up. A trophy on public land is a true trophy.

There aren't any big bucks in Felsenthal, you don't know what you're talking about.

I share the same sentiment. Most of my deer hunting is done in a climber with a bow on public land.
The main thing I’ll need to do is get my proper license to hunt the public land in Arkansas because I’m pretty sure where our camp is on the ouachita is in Arkansas territory . I think I’ll do some scouting first then try and make some hunts later this year.
