Keep doing what I’ve been doing.

Max HSA
Max 401k
Max IRA

Those are the building blocks.

No consumer or student loan debt. Mortgage at 3% so no rush to pay that off.

Getting married so combining our finances is going to be an “objective” for the year. We’ve got a pretty good system right now but just need to combine and close some accounts eventually.

That's my next step after the emergency fund. I'm researching ROTH right now. For a middle aged guy, I know an embarrassingly little amount about long term financial strategy.

A couple of major reasons for that but I'm not getting into all that. The important thing is future strategy, not past events.

Accomplished for 2021 and basically the same goals for 2022. Wife will max 401K in 2022 as she was a little short in 2021. Already opened IRA for her so that gets funded for 2021 and 2022 in January.

Bigger financial planning goal is around risk management, namely insurance. Life insurance and LTD being the two critical ones. I’ve got umbrella insurance and combined auto coverage so checked those boxes. I need to create a will and make sure beneficiaries are all up to date.

Time to stomach the thousands in insurance that I’ll be paying every year going forward…not going to be cheap but it’s the right financial plan.
