Pretty sure Hodgins was #30 and Gainey may have been 93. However, to be sure, I have some 1972 game programs at my house. I will look up the numbers and reply back if you haven’t gotten your answer. Will take me a day or two as I am out of town.

I see your question has been answered.

Would you check when you're able? The replies haven't come up with a consensus.

I appreciate the quick replies, though.
Gainey had a brother on the team, he might have been 16.

I know Norm was #30. He wore it as a defensive back and later in his career as a receiver.

Those numbers aren't actually their jersey numbers, just the numbers used to identify each person's place in the photo.

According to the 1972 Gumbo Hodgins was #30, Gainey was #90 and Dennis was not shown in the team photo.

FWIW, that was the Gumbo that included 3 photos of nude co-eds that drew the ire of the Louisiana legislature. It’s a collectors item.

The picture in the 1972 Gumbo is of the 1971 team, not the 1972 team. Tommy Casanova is listed and he was not on the 1972 team.

Yes they were. 9 wins 2 losses and 1 tie. They finished ranked #11 in the final AP poll.

Wrong year. That's the 1971 team.

From Mississippi State vs LSU Nov. 18, 1972 game program.

Jim Gainey, DE Jr. #90
Rand Dennis, S So. #25
Norm Hodgins, CB Jr. #30

Hope this helps.

Jim Gainey's brother Tom played safety and was #19 on the 1972 team.
