I hear a song on the radio occasionally and I just don't get it. His music is very unique, but not appealing to me.

Maybe I haven't heard the right song?

Thanks to a great drummer, bass and keys early Elvis Costello is very very good. That being said I am only lukewarm about Costello independent of Steve Nieve , Pete Thomas , Bruce Thomas

Yes, he's the greatest songwriter of the last 50 years

"New Amsterdam"

"Riot Act"

"Man Out Of Time"

"Town Cryer" - his Sinatra song

Imperial Bedroom is one of my top 5 albums

I would argue first seven. He had a string of seven very good (Almost Blue) to great (the rest of them) albums. He could wright/sing rocknroll, jazz, punk, country, etc

This has one masterpiece track: his remake of Gram Parsons' "How Much I Lied", which I actually prefer to the original. Otherwise most of the album is disappointing.

It uses Clover aka Huey Lewis' backing band. It feels pretty sluggish compared to the work of The Attractions, the aforementioned Thomas, Thomas, & Nieve.

He is one of the Goats. I didn’t care for him when I was younger but have grown to appreciate his work more and more.

Do you like Huey Lewis and the news? He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

Yeah, he's someone I came to enjoy more as I got older and heard more of him. Some of his late night TV appearances seemed "gimmicky," for lack of a better word, so I really wasn't interested until I stumbled upon more of his music that was still new to me.

I did a lot back in school. Doesn't hold up for me other than Oliver's Army and WSFAPLAU. Maybe Veronica as well.

He's come a long way since he called Ray Charles a "blind, ignorant n----r".
