At this stage in his coaching career he never wanted the grind, pressure and attention that came with being the OC. He happily went back to TE coach after being the interim OC in 2016. He took the job in 2018 out of loyalty to LSU...not because he desperately sought the position. Now, he wants to step away from the grind...essentially a 4 year grind he was always reluctant to accept.

He didn't get fired or demoted. He walking away, telling Ed to find a someone who wants the burden and pressure that comes with being the OC here. He did his tour of duty. Now it is time to step aside on his own terms

The guy deserves a lot of gratitude for doing what was needed despite his preference not to do it.

He bailed out O way more than many will accept and showed tons of humility when he was willing to work with Brady the way he did.

Some people love the game but prefer less stressful positions within it. I hope he stays on as TE coach. Gets a ton of hate for a job he did well and against his wishes.
