Why didn’t we start Max earlier?

I get that hindsight is 20/20, but, there’s no way he wasn’t showing up in practice.
Just makes me question Orgeron, Ensminger, and Linehan even more than I already do. “Our defense is better this year than it was last year.”

Maybe he Wasnt ready.
How did he look in practice when you saw him compared to others?

O made the decision. He had the CLM wisdom about who the best QB was.

Our defense is better? What rock did you crawl out from under?

Do you know what quotation marks are, and what they mean?

Give O credit for making the change. Its never easy changing starting QBs when its not due to injury. Can have a huge impact on the chemistry of a team. It was good to hear in Boutte's post gamer that he and Max have been working together extra since the summer. Paid off last night!

I think it’s because Finley is bigger and has a bigger arm. With a bad OL you need someone who can take a hit, Max is really thin like Myles Brennan so he probably saw the same thing happening with Max. Not defending the choice just speculating, Max is clearly more polished and a better player, but I think TJ has a higher ceiling because his arm talent is insane. Can’t coach that.

I mean, is this really confusing? TJ looks pretty damn good too. Calm in the pocket and has a rocket for an arm. I could see how they would pick him over Max after a week of practice.

Wait What? Brennan weight 175 out of high school at 6'4", Max is in the 215 range.

What Max Johnson is good at right now is something you don’t see at practice. Poise when live bullets are firing at you. I have zero doubt that in practice the coaches thought TJ was the better QB. It’s easy to be great at practice with no threat of being hit and TJ is bigger and has more arm talent than Max.

Why TJ instead of Max? TJ is more of the passer O wanted.

This. It’s easy to look great playing 7on7.

Minus the interceptions and all

With our offense committed to zone read and RPO Neither TJ or Brennan can really run the offense.
We beat TAM if Max starts.
Don’t know about the BLM thing... hope that was not it.
Finley clearly has a huge arm.
Max is going through progressions and pre snap stuff at a higher level. We will never know what/how playbook is simplified or opened up for either one...
Against Ole Miss they let Max read and wait and throw over the middle... That crossing route to Boutte is similar to Jefferson and only comes open late....against Florida it appeared that a bunch of those short throws were specifically called.
Even against Ole Miss the opening 15 play script was not nearly as good as the rest of the plays.

Right. The only real knock has been the turnovers, which they wouldn’t have seen in practice against this shite defense. Lol

South Carolina was fools gold
Made an immobile qb seem better than he was
TJ is a great young man
He has happy feet
Max stands in the pocket and trusts his line
TJ would literally run into the rush
That one thing is huge

It’s still racism, we just aren’t allowed to call it that. The media treats it like a one way street.

Tj knew more of the playbook that was already installed for Brennan. TJ had a more than solid first game. That earned him the start at AU. The plan was for Max to start against Arkansas but he had to quarantine and missed a ton of practice leading up to that game. TJ again played well against Arkansas and let a game winning drive. That earned TJ the start against AM but they both played. Both played against Bama clearly. Max showed he wouldn't turn the ball over. Its not that hard to see how it transpired.
