Why is everyone thinking the ship is sinking.

It is preseason. Two years ago the whole team looked terrible in preseason and the saints were one game from the superbowl. The offense was ranked first and the defense 11th that year. Yes Jason David is terrible. Vilma was playing his first game. Porter the same. Im not saying that the defense is going to be great I just dont understand why everyone is passing judgement in the second preseason game. I dont even remeber seeing a blitz the whole game. On another note, Deuce looked good in his few plays. I hope he can keep it up.

Watching the game again and his last pass was at 6 minutes. So those numbers were in the first 24 minutes of the game. That's ridiculous...

vilma will get there and samuri is solid. shanle looks really bad and would love to see him replaced like yesterday.

porter looks at least a yr away from contributing...i hope they bring him along slowly or he will never recover mentally from this toasting....he needs to stop all verbal and non verbal communicatinon with david..only bad habits can result...

I agree that the defense looked terrible, but I just cant believe that it will be that bad. Every pass was thrown at David and he was tryin but the coaching staff really needs to think about letting him get a change of scenery. Porter got toasted but I pretty much expect that from a rookie. He did look like he has potential. I just dont think that the defense can be fully judged until it counts. They may be as horrible as they looked last night but Im holding out hope that we can stop the bleeding by Tampa Bay.

I think Payton's presser was clear enough how much concern should be had about the D. He was emphatic that it wasn't just a preseason thing to be be taken lightly. The comment I liked was that changes in the lineup could be in store. You can only take so much toast without butter or jam. I need vodka with my OJ to wash JD down.
Compare preseason with '06? How 'bout '07? There were plenty of ominous signs that did keep going into a 0-4 start.
The O looks to be even better than last year fo sho. If the D can get to near average we will contend. As rah rah as I am I dunno if there was even a hint of avearge on that side. Jason Craft looked good in comparison to other guys.

payton's presser is exactly why i still have faith. He seemed mad as hell and there is still time to work it out. I think there is going to be some arse chewing and some serious retooling going on with the defense for the last two preseason games. umm Jason David.

Im not freaking out about a preseason game but did anyone see the stat last night about QB ratings? Combined the Saints opponents QB rating was .1 higher than the best ranking of all-time. And if you sat through that disgusting display last night, the above stat does NOT offer much hope....
