Some of my favorites are

Seafood
Prejean's off I-49 is "award winning"
Don's seafood
Boiled = Dwights on Johnston

Mexican
Picante's on Northwest Throughway (across from
Prejean's basically)
Tampico's on Johnston

Sandwiches
Old Tyme grocery, small shop great prices and
awesome poboys.
Hambergers - Bulldog sports bar and grill
(Wednesdays are dollar burger days) real
college "hangout"

Pizza
Deano's is my choice.

Italian - I don't really do italian but I like
Johnny Corino's Country Italian on Amb. Caffery
good prices and reminds me of my mother's
italian which isn't really italian if that
makes sense.

Italian: Cafe Roma, La Pizzaria, Bella Figura (a bit pricier but really yummy)

Pizza: Deano's - FABULOuS

Seafood - Riverside Inn, Don's

Mexican - Tampico's, Coyote Blue

Sushi - Samuri, Tsunami, Sakura

There is a TON of great food here.....

Peking Garden

The Filling Station

Pizza Village

Legend's Annex (right behind Legend's on Jefferson)

Agreed with Dwight's. I find Lafayette's and especially Poor Boy's Riverside Inn to be superior to Prejean's and Don's.

If you want poboys, go to The Villager's Cafe in Maurice. I find Old Tyme to be a bit overpriced.

Right down the rack with Sassy on those recs and I would add one I enjoy,Charlie G's. Holly does a superb job there imo. I also am a fan of Masalas but I like Indian food, Mae Sonne Noodle House is a hidden long time gem for Aisan and dirt cheap. catahoulas in grand Coteau will knock your socks off, especially with a young lady accompanying you and Catahoulas in LFT is under a new manager that pledges better foor at more reasonable pricing so we'll see after giving them a month to work out the kinks. Did,I say add one............sorry, got carried away:)

Haven't seen these mentioned, but some of my favorites:

Blue Dog Cafe - particularly Sunday brunch

Cafe Vermilion - somewhat upscale

Petroleum Club - best lunch buffet in town (private club, join if you can, or make friends with someone who has a membership)

LaFonda's - many will turn up their nose at the food saying it's not authentic, but the food is good, service is great (in the front dining area) and the atmosphere is fun especially Friday lunch (get there at 12:00 noon and be seated at 3:00 pm).

T-Coon's-read aboov

Southside bakery- best burger around

Azteca's-very good Mexican with reasonable prices

Ninfa's-chain Mexican but still pretty good

Dwight's-great seafood

Charlie G's-upscale but arguably the best restaurant in Laffy

La Fonda's-another good Mexican place with good drinks

Got to try the Crab Amore pizza at La Pizzeria. There's also a pretty good new Mexican place on Pinhook next to the A&P in Broussard.
