Good first episode. Enough to keep us coming back. The initial disaster was drawn out a bit much, but we're done with that and we can move on. Also, that was pretty much a TED Talk on how to hide evidence badly. We'll see more of that going forward I'm sure.
Not sure how I am on Stuhlbarg being the heavy.

I plan on watching after all episodes have aired. Looks pretty good.

I'll go ahead and say this based on this one episode... this is the most ambitious thing CBS Studios has ever produced, and by wide margin.

I liked it...looks like its going to be really good.

I agree. Interested to see what the deal with the picture is all about. The events leading up to the major happening and how the son acted up to that are my main gripes with the episode. A little absurd, but I'm assuming it will make sense later on in the series.

Bumping for TulaneLSU.

I’m guessing his mother was murdered at the store and the neighborhood fellas weren’t so happy that one went to jail or death row for it. Seemed a little far fetched that they would chase the kid down the street with guns drawn. Figure anything with Cranston should be good. Nothing to stereotypical of Louisiana yet. Second line parades, Dixie Beer, voodoo, crawfish boils, etc....

SPOILER ALERT
Wow that was just absolute trash. So bad Cranston’s acting seemed to be one of his weaker performances. The lead up to, during and after the accident was way too drawn out. The making obvious stupid mistakes was way too often. It was like the horror movie where they always run up the stairs only an entire hour of it. Then there was the whole “well how convenient is that?” For example the washer incident, of course that happens the one time you don’t want it to. Even the dog is planting evidence. Cranston plays a judge that is more like Perry Mason and doing things in his own court room that would probably get a retrial and he doesn’t know how to hide evidence? Just making mistake after mistake. A dog named Django a friend named Jebediah, were eye rolls. The only thing that made this show at all interesting is the twist of who the victims families is in the story. If the obvious predictable mistakes keep happening, the next episode will definitely be the last one. Side note the light was also bad. Not sure a light was used. I get we live in the world of digital camera’s but most scenes were way too dark and would only have light pushing through the windows. Go back and look hall of the court house no lights were on, in the house lights were off. It was like power was out in the city outside a tv and the neighbor turning her light on across the street at night.

2nd episode held up. Digging himself into a deeper hole. Nice that it’s turning into a mob war so quickly.

Judge better remember to tell his son about the keys.

He started off doing well with the “today is yesterday” alibis. Then he started throwing out random lies that he’ll never be able to hold together.

I'm finding it all weirdly compelling. In E01, the judge was trying to console his son with the "good people do crazy things when they're desperate and can't fix a situation" bit, and little did he know, he was two seconds from being that guy himself. Now they've got a little gangbanger who can bring them all down, including I guess the mayoral candidate, and the judge is trying to alleviate his guilty conscience by getting his crackerjack $80 million lawyer girlfriend to represent him. And like you said, there's about to be a mob war on top of it all. lol

That was my take as well, and I am really trying to like this series.

Anybody stick with this one? Did it improve over the first couple of episodes?

It's still okay but Ep 3 stalled pretty hard. And the New Orleans "ain't like the rest of the world" bullshite is getting pretty thick.
