Last year we process players early and it cost us

Not really.

Old recruiting proverb: "It's not the players you lose that hurt you, it's the players you take that can't play."

If you don't love a player, you're better off letting him go, even if you don't replace him.

There was no lesson to learn last year. We ended up with some open spots. We’ll use those on grad transfers or jucos who will be at least as good as the guys we processed. We have recently used those spots for...
The cornerback transfer this year
Traore - a solid two deep guy
Lewis - A day one NFL starter
Burrow - The GOAT
Gaye - a solid starter at DE
Cox - a starter at LB

So, we’re doing fine.
