I am burning some dry oak that has been in the barn all summer.

It started popping embers to the point I had to put the fire out. Way more than normal 5-10 ft outside the fire pit

What causes this?

C6H12O6 + 6O2 = 6CO2 + 6H2O

You're converting wood into a gas that expands quickly under high temperature.

How fast did the oak burn?

I had some branches from my oak tree one time and it never wanted to burn.

I had to eventually throw it away or let Mother Nature take its course and let it rot.

I did see the Lowe’s carries a line of firewood or fire log that has extra popping or crackling sounds as I was shopping this weekend for Christmas lights.

Damn now you got me wanting to build a fire now. 2 weeks until I'm in my new house and backyard on the pond with my firepit, cigar, and glass of whiskey.
