A better comparison would be chumming an area, attracting a bunch of fish and then cast netting them. Or better yet, hitting a button that automatically slings up a cage around them.
When you are fishing, you are presenting the bait, this takes skill. Little different than dumping corn and waiting. For this reason, as you might be jumping ahead to, I don’t enjoy soaking shrimp on the bottom.

Some types of fishing it does, but trolling or dropping a chunk of squid for a snapper or grouper takes zero skill. It can still be fun.
