With a few seasons as an exception, Mack Brown couldn’t win at Texas and Mack Brown, like Les Miles, was an excellent recruiter. Herman can’t do either! Maybe the Texas brass needs to realize they will always be like Texas A&M is in the sec, just happy to be playing with the big boys and not worry about the wins and losses!

Wut?

His average record over 16 years at Texas was damn near 10-3. (9.875/season to be precise).

From 2000-2009, I think they were the second winningest program in CFB behind Boise.

10 wins a year from 2001-2009, which was also a record for consecutive 10-win seasons by a coach at that time.

Finished in the Top 10 seven times, won 4 division titles, 2 conference titles. The last number is a blemish in my opinion. It should be more.

10-5 bowl record, 3-1 in BCS Bowls, 7-9 against Oklahoma, 10-4 against the Aggies.

I’m not saying he’s Meyer or Saban, but he inherited a program that lost 66-3 to UCLA at home the year before and finished with 4 wins under John Mackovic. He turned that program around immediately and made them front runners in the state after Texas A&M had controlled the rivalry. Granted, Mackovic started to turn the tide in that game.

I wouldn’t say a 7-9 record against OU is bad, it’s how they lost that looks shitty.
