I like Adams. I like the trade. I like the extension.

So, if Adams finishes out this contract, the guy you picked 8th overall is gonna spend his first four seasons on the bench.

It was a bad pick. They know it was a bad pick.

I'm getting used to the idea of having a badass down low with some young high-energy guys sprinkled throughout the roster.

Reminds me of having Tyson/David West - some fricking grit.

I'm ready to be the team that people circle on their calendar as a miserable game, win or lose.

Dude was only 19 last season, and hasn't been playing basketball for that long. They didn't draft him with the expectation of his playing 30+ minutes in his 2nd season. They've given him a great mentor and a few years of low-pressure development.

Last season, Hayes looked like a guy with a lot of talent that didn't know what he was doing. We knew that when we drafted him. It will be a bad pick if he doesn't improve.

Jaxson was a pure upside pick. No one expected him to be starting year 2. In fact, there’s a good chance he never starts. You have to take someone who makes your team better. Adams makes the team better.

These are the number 8’s the past ten years. Very few teams go into picking number 8 and think that he will be a full time starter. So to even expect Jaxson to ever be a full time starter, especially based on what we’ve seen so far, is a little far fetched

2019 Jaxson Hayes, Texas – New Orleans Pelicans
2018 Collin Sexton, Alabama – Cleveland Cavaliers
2017 Frank Ntilikina, France – New York Knicks
2016 Marquese Chriss, Washington – Sacramento Kings
2015 Stanley Johnson, Arizona – Detroit Pistons
2014 Nik Stauskas, Michigan – Sacramento Kings
2013 Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Georgia – Detroit Pistons
2012 Terrence Ross, Washington – Toronto Raptors
2011 Brandon Knight, Kentucky – Detroit Pistons
2010 Al-Farouq Aminu, Wake Forest – L.A. Clippers

Is this where everyone pretends that they knew Herro was a stud.

Because given that we are all just assuming no one improves after a season, he’s the only player picked after that that’s enough of a needle mover to give a frick.

“8th overall” doesn’t mean shite without context.

Jaxson's ceiling is still as the best center in the NBA. His floor is at ordinary rotational player. He's so young and so raw that there's no way to know what he's going to become. If I were betting, I'd have to bet that he ultimately becomes a quality starter and borderline all-star.

But, even if Jaxson stays a skinny backup with no shooting skill, that doesn't mean that it was a bad pick. It would just mean that it was a pick that didn't work out.
