Whew, that's taking in a lot of territory to say he's like Earl Campbell, but faster. Like Bum Phillips said, "I don't know if Earl's in a class by himself, but it don't take long to call the roll!"

I think Jacob Hester is awesome, but Earl? Really! I remember his hit on Isaiah Robertson of the Rams...a thing of beauty.

That hit is on the 2nd page of the thread. That's the first time I've seen it

From the web, it says Earl was 5'11" and 230 lbs. I can't remember how big his thighs were, but the sports pages at the time were full of stories about how big his thighs were.

He was a beast, but in general, I think the players are gigger, stonger, and faster now. Earl was a freak for his time.

You're right, and that's true across the athletic spectrum. If Earl was in his prime today, with the benefit of what is known today about nutrition and training regimens...holy cow.

There's a bar about 20 miles west of Austin called Poudie's (Willie Nelson's road manager). Anyway, framed and hanging on the wall is (supposedly) Earl Campbell's jock strap

Maybe some Baton Rouge bar should do the same for Hester-

I don't know but ask Barnett, number 57, the Dallas Linebacker. He should know.
