Yeah Hispanics hate the masks. Places like the valley and El Paso were always going to fair poorly in this also because of how multi generational and crowded a lot of the living situations are and how poor the local healthcare is.

And I’m not a mask = prevention nut but it’s a good indicator of how seriously or not you take the virus

the valley, yes. i agree.
not true in El Paso. Those people locked down hard and stuck to masks hard. their problems are people coming from Juarez, and that they didn't ease up lockdowns till much later than the rest of the state and they're getting the second wave we all had in the summer.
ETA: this is just my experience. i've been to the valley and EP 2x each this year. valley acknowledges it's a big deal but people were pretty eased up on masks both trips. they'd wear them around crowds but take them off when we were in offices. i didn't see a single person's unmasked face in El Paso either trip
