The new top of the line electronics with top of the line trolling motors and optimizing networking will run you north of $10k.

I realize its just marketing, but I hate seeing the price of a 12" vs 9" vs 7" graphs when I know the internals are 99% identical and the extra screen space costs the mfr $10's of dollars.

Yet a 12" will be 4x what a 7" will be.

optimizing networking
Not sure why people do this.

I am going to wait for the new Motorguide.

Two weeks ado I would have said you were exaggerating - then I ordered a new Lowrance Ghost trolling motor ($3000) and a small (7") Elite Ti2 ($500) to replace an old HDS 7 that's been acting up. Accessories (Ghost remote control, PLB, new Ram mount, etc.) and the cost of my time, and I've spent more than some of my earlier boats cost.

The only good news was I paid for all this stuff with Cabela's reward money. So it was almost like getting it for free.
