Going to the Caribbean in December. Jamaica requires a negative COVID-19 test result within 10 days of travel. Has anyone had to do this lately? Would the rapid test work, like from a walk-in clinic, or do we need to get a full blown state test? I've heard horror stories rumored where some people were rejected from flying because they took the wrong kind of test.

Jamaican Test Requirements

Who had to go through something like this, and where do I need to get a test done in BR/Ascension area?

Aruba required a test within 72 hours of travel. Went to CVS for $139 they'll test you. I got my test back in 2 days. Pretty straight forward.

Does Cancun require anything crazy? I’m looking at a trip for me and the wife in April. Hopefully all this bullshite will be over by then, but I’m a little skeptical for international travel right now.

I only think the insurance will pay if you meet the requirement for being tested. I was testing for travel, so it didn't count.

I've been tested twice for free. On the form just put you've had suspected exposure

I would call wherever you are getting tested and make sure it's this kind of test:

Accepted Test Types
A Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction Test (RT-PCR)
A Nucleic Acid Amplification test (NAA)
An RNA or molecular test
An Antigen test

?Note:

Only results from oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal samples will be accepted for PCR tests
Only results from nasopharyngeal samples will be accepted for Antigen tests
Antibody tests will NOT be accepted
Results from home-based test kits will NOT be accepted

Looks like they really want info on the labs used too:
Test Result Sheet Requirements
Ideally, the test result sheet should display the following information:

Name of individual tested (must be same on application and lab test result)
Date of birth of individual tested (must be same on application and lab test result)
Name of testing laboratory
Indication of laboratory credentials (CLIA, ISO 15189)
Date of sample collection
Type of test
Type of sample
Test result

We used the COVID RT-PCR Lab at 9550 Airline Highway. They send samples to lab in Houston. We paid to expedite and got results within 2 days.

The full blown test is required. Ochsner offers free testing during the week at diff locations around town. Check out their website
