Can anyone recommend some westerns I can stream on Netflix or HBO? I've been on a kick lately. I really enjoy good ones and I'm entertained at the bad. Some I've watched lately and how I rated them:

Big Kill 6/10
Ballad of Lefty Brown 7/10
Ballad of Buster Scruggs 9/10
There Will Be Blood 7/10
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly 11/10

Godless

That's a real solid series. The premise didn't excite me a lot but I was surprised by how good it turned out to be. Great cast.

HBO - Deadwood
Netflix - Godless
Pluto Tv - The Claim, The Proposition

Prime probably has the best collection of Western movies though

Lonely are the Brave
Hell or High Water

No idea where these are available to stream, but they're both excellent.

I don't have Netflix of HBO, so I don't know what's available on there.

If you don't mind subtitles, there were some interesting red westerns (you can find some streaming free). I really enjoyed The White Sun of the Desert and At Home among Strangers. If you do want to seek out some of those to watch, bear in mind, though, that many of those films do have an element of propaganda to them (although that does seem to fade out in the 80s as some films started giving a more realistic look into life behind the iron curtain).

Some westerns I like are:
The Sons of Katie Elder
3:10 to Yuma (original from 1957)
The Professionals
Vera Cruz
Red River

Also, if you want to watch a lot of westerns, there's The Westerns Channel. I've not subscribed to it, but have been thinking of doing so for a month or two (it's $7 a month) when I get ready to get on a western kick.

Someone else already mentioned A Fist Full of Dollars. If you like that, Yojimbo might interest you. It's a samurai film (samurai films are pretty similar to westerns) that A Fist Full of Dollars was essentially a remake of (Sergio Leonne was sued over it and ended up having to give a cut of the receipts to Toho studios, the distributor of Yojimbo). It's on the criterion channel, not sure what, if any, other sites have it.

If you're willing to watch YouTube I have a playlist w/200+ westerns. Most of them are fairly routine, but many are worth a watch even for non-fanatics.

This thread is dedicated to TV western episodes

Here's an interesting spaghetti western (watch on YT)

Silverado is the last “fun” Western I can remember.

Outstanding music, a young Costner, a bad arse Danny Glover wielding two Henry golden boys, Kevin Cline as comedy, Scott Glenn as the classic main cowboy, a slimy young Jeff Goldblum, and an iconic villainous performance from Brian Dennehy

The best new western I’ve watched in years is the Mandalorian.
