I prefer Keystone over Breck for a group of varied ability. Keystone doesn’t have any of the lift accessed, high alpine stuff like Breck, but I prefer the setup. Once you go up from the base, you don’t have to go all the way back until the end of the day. If you can ski blues, work your way to the backside then ski towards the base as time permits. However, I have spent days on the front side just making laps off the Montezuma lift.

Since you are staying off mountain, driving in, and trying not to spend money, the bus system works great and I prefer it versus being in the River Run lot. The buses will drop you off at the lift opposed to having to walk across a huge parking lot and then through the village.

If you go with a group he could park at mountain house lot for $20. People tend to forget about it so it’s great for getting up the mountain and a breeze getting back down. Quick access to the backside too.
