Same reason Bud Foster and Mickey Andrew's didnt. Coaching rarely has strong job security. He has more job security than anyone not named Saban or Dabo.
Likely insanely less stressful job. Close to his family. Ties to the community. Makes perfect sense.

Another factor is once you become HC you don't get to do as much coaching, anymore. You're managing your coaches. Some guys just enjoy the day to day coaching and instructing of a position coach or coordinator.
