DMV Title Notary Nonsense

Why is it that the DMV doesn't have the option that if you are buying a vehicle from someone, family, friend, or anyone really, that's willing to go to the DMV with you, that they can't sign the title at the DMV counter in front of the horrible DMV person and be done? Why do they insist you go to a notary and get it stamped? A notary is just there to verify a signature. If me and you go to the DMV, both with our drivers licenses and the title, we should be able to do everything there. It's fricking ridiculous.
That is all.
That is all.

Another thing is payment. Different shite requires certain forms of payment. Best thing to do is walk in with $500 cash, a checkbook, and a credit card, just to be safe, or chances are you'll probably have to make a 2nd trip. Not to mention everything is by appointment now. The DMV really is a horrible place, and some people actually want the govt to run their healthcare.

All of this is done within 10 minutes at Big Lake Title on Hwy 59.

Because a notarized signature is for future verification if potential disputes arise.
When there’s a title issue that comes up a year later, are they supposed to hunt Lakeshia down and ask her if she remembers if you signed it?
A notarized signature is evidence in itself by law.

That scenario actually exists at independent notary offices who do title transfers, license plates and notary work. Who the hell still uses the DMV?

Bought a new boat and trailer out of state.
Dealer had a notary and my paperwork was in order.
Went to a notary place that does the same thing as the DMV.
In and out in 10 minutes with my license plate.
When I sold my other boat I think I was in and out of that place in 5 minutes signing my paperwork over to the buyer.

When I first moved back to Louisiana I had to get my vehicles and boat trailers changed over to Louisiana plates.
Went to the DMV it was a 4 hour wait in BR at the independence location.
- two vehicles they did not screw up
- on boat trailer screwed up a year later found out a dump truck trailer had my plate and I had theirs. Got a letter in the mail from DMV around a year later.
Had to go back to DMV and wait 3 hours to get it fixed and finally had a supervisor look at their letter to fix it.
- other trailer had the wrong paperwork they screwed up as someone had a travel trailer with my plate.
They sent me a letter in the mail admitting the mistake 3 yrs later. I ignored it as it was not certified and I was pissed about the last plate being screwed up.
They called me eight times.
I told them they had to come to my trailer pull it off and give me the correct plate.
I have to admit they sent a state trooper out at my schedule, the trooper apologized, and gave me the right plate. I pulled the other plate off and gave it to him as he was professional. He gave me my new registration to match the new plate.
So far DMV out of 4 license plates screwed up two transactions plus the wait time back then was horriable.
Now I use those notary title places and so far have had no issues.
As far as license renewals I been to New Roads and Assumption Parish dmv locations. If they are not doing driver’s test these locations are fast.

Why would u want to go to dmv? You can have a notary meet you or do title transfer in personal at an office
