How to fish timbalier island by boat?

First off, in a xpress 22b with a yami 200. I would like to try doing some trout fishing on the back side of the sand bar of the timbalier bay barrier islands. I usually launch out of point aux chenes marine which happens to be about a 25mile drive from the marina, and about a 15 mile drive from port fourchon.
Both marinas are similar distance from my home so that's not an issue.
1) Which marina would y'all recommend launching out of on a calm day?
2) Should I avoid a south wind all together?
3) What is the best way to fish the backside of the surf, I have never done it before? I've always just seen people stay casting distance from the bar outside of the breakers and slowly troll or anchor. Is that the preferred method?

Good thing about launching in PAC is you can hit the other lakes on the way in.

Yea,that's where I fish 90% of the time. The lakes and bayous out of PAC.

I think you misunderstood. I mean behind the surf, as behind where the waves start to break on the sand bar. The deeper area before the bar.

Cocodrie
North wind slicks out the surf on the beach side and you can fish as close as you want. There are some pretty hot spots on the bay side of Timbalier that you can fish pretty comfortably if you have a good south wind kicking up the surf on the beach side.
Get as close as you can and start casting. Sometime they’re in the breakers and some times they are out further. You just have to feel it out

Be careful with that xpress. Terrebonne bay can be a nasty bitch. Watch the winds as that’s allot of open water to cross

Yea, terre one bay cam be a bitch lol. Was trying to find clean water yesterday going as low as the north shore of lake barre in the terrebone bay. We knew it was getting windier but that northeast wind started kicking up some 2-3' breaking chop, my arse still hurts lol! It takes them decent but that metal hull hurts lol!

Yeah sorry, meant north wind coming over the island. I was confused with his statement to Motorboat about fishing the back side
Edited to clarify. Woof at my grammar
Also, calm seas on a slight south wind is great on the beach. Boat sets up perfectly and you can sling it with the wind.
