Mitch has the votes. My guess is he gave Collins the go ahead to vote in whichever way is best for her reelection chances. She saved Kavanaugh. Her speech during the kavanaugh debate was a thing of beauty. She earned the right to do what she needs to do here.

I completely disagree. This is the exact reason she’s on shaky ground. It’s not because she voted against impeachment and for Kavanaugh. It’s because she waffles back and forth and doesn’t have a spine. You inspire absolutely nobody on the fence to support you because your weakness tell those people you will cut and run on them at the first sign of trouble. The people of Maine want to see someone take a stand and stick to it. They don’t want to see you sticking your fricking finger in the air to check the political winds. Susan Collins is a political weathervane, nothing more. Whether you agree with Trump or not, when he takes a position he fights tooth and nail for it. It’s why his base never abandoned him with all the bullshite the Dems and the media threw at him.

This may be what Trump intended

That would be the 36D chess move we know and love.

This might actually help her in her Senate race.

3-D chess.

You can't possibly be serious. The woman thinks that sexual orientation is a preference. If that doesn't disqualify her, I don't know what does. It's right there in Webster's as a derogatory or demeaning term, and yet ACB chose to use it anyways. She really should be ashamed of herself and should withdraw from consideration.

Dear President Trump,

Would you prefer a Senator from Maine who votes with you 85% of the time or a Senator from Maine who votes with you 0% of the time?

Because you seem to be seeking the latter.

ACB should get a Scalia level vote (98-0). There is literally 0 questions about her qualifications.

Some a-hole voter on Fox, in a swing state, said she didn't have enough experience. Dude also said he was likely voting by writing in a name for president, but voting republican for Senate so that the Dems didn't control all 3 branches of govt.

From the perspective of ideological purity and emotion, I understand what you are saying.

From the perspective of realpolitik, it is maybe the dumbest thing I have ever seen you (a good poster) put onto my screen.

“ACB should get 98-0 vote”
Fat chance that’s going to happen

What good is it when that 15% are the key votes?

that one surprised me.

It APPEARS THAT POTUS Trump is done with her. BBBUUUUUTT

Funny though, the thrashing by the POTUS will ACTUALLY bolster her re-election chances.

Maine is Lefty as hell but somehow COllins keeps getting re-elected...wgch is good for us because she is an independent that caucuses with the GOP most of the time.

It is stupid, but people on here are emotional and make snap judgements.

Maine is weird.

They have an identity crisis as a state, and not only do they not care who knows it, they’re actually proud of it.

if we were playing with pre-Robert Bork, pre-Clarence Thomas, pre-Brett Kavanaugh rules... she would have nearly unchallenged bipartisan support

Nope. That'd just be dumb. Collins is needed by the R's to help maintain control of the Senate. That's far more important than kicking out someone who voted against you in a vote that you won anyways and who generally votes with you in most all other cases.

Collins is not "an attacker." She is an ally who disagrees with him on a few points. Run her out of the Senate, and she will be replaced by a Dem ... who WILL be an "attacker."
