how did NOLA get away with no COVID deaths for several days in a row?

You mean of the people that died, for whatever reason, in that 7 day period not one of them tested positive for COVID?

In reality strictly talking numbers we should average a death every 2-3 days.

Yes. Because everyone in nola has already had it. EBR has only had 14 "covid" deaths in the last 23 days.

I would imagine normal daily operations of LDH have been severely affected the past several weeks.
