Time to try a new LB?

I had high hopes for Clark but he’s just not working out... not even against Vandy or Mizzou. Should we try Sampah or White?

I don’t think it’s entirely his fault. He’s clearly thinking too much whereas last year he was just going full speed and flying around.
Another reason Pelini needs to be canned.

Jacoby Stevens. No reason he should be playing safety.

I remember Devonta Lee switched to LB, has he played any so far?

This would be fun, but he’d set a NCAA record for #of targeting ejections of a player in a season.

At this point I'd take Sister Marie of the Holy Cross Church to play middle linebacker over any of those that we have playing.

YES! Pelini was supposed to simplify things for these guys and let them fly around the field, and yet there's more confusion than ever.

I’d like to see Sampah and white get more reps.

jacoby stevens. he's too big and slow to be a safety. if we played a 3 man front and 6 DB's he could be one of those - playing close to the line and in the middle of the field.

I'm very eager to see Sampah (White too).
But, in specific order, fix the scheme and execution of that scheme before changing people.
When I see Cox and Clark both covering a slot WR, poorly as one would expect with a LB on a WR, and a RB slipping out freely with a S not in position to make a tackle (much less cover) I have to wonder about both the scheme and execution.

Clarke is not fast enough or physical enough to play mlb

Clark has a terrible time getting off of blocks. He is being driven backwards most of the time. Please try Stevens or Carter. It is a no brainer.

Schematically that’s one of my biggest gripes.
Safeties are deep and out of the play and Clark routinely ends up covering someone in the slot and he sucks at that.
It’s no just man, but assignments in man.

Clark surely knows how to dance

But, if any player is getting put out of optimal position due to scheme, he'll look slow. If he's put in positions where he can't get good angles (because that's the best way to defeat blocks) he'll look like he's not physical enough.
I remember people, few but some, griping about Devin White barely getting there in time to make a tackle on a WR at the sidelines. I thought it was crazy because of course he's not supposed to be making solo tackles on WRs on the sideline.
Same principal applies. It's like a chicken and egg thing. Does he look slow because he's not in the optimal spots, or is he not getting into his spot because he's slow.
Considering the schematic failures we're seeing all over the place and that the MLB isn't the only one I am... for now... going with the former rather than latter.
I've seen him move. He's not slow; I've seen faster and more agile for sure. But he's not in the lower half as far as that goes. But, it does happen to players. Sometimes it doesn't translate on game day. He just might be one of those.
