I'd imagine if it goes a certain way you won't want to be around some of the main protest areas.

The good news is you can largely avoid that if you've been before. I was in DC visiting friends during the inauguration and only saw protestors after the fact all over town but not in an organized fashion.

I’d imagine the election and inauguration being two very different things for DC

Never been before. We will be in Virginia for two weeks so we may just go the week before.
