We took Molton over him basically because he didn't show up to camp. There were also some concerns over his speed which i didn't buy at the that time because he was plenty fast enough for Miami. So anyway Byrd has been killing it this summer at the U and is getting rave reviews while mr. molton has not even made it to campus yet. molton is supposedly the most athletic player to come out of destrehan, but does anyone else besides me think we should have gone the byrd route?

oh just some cane fans on the national board are raving about him. evidentally randy shannon has gone out of his way to praise him. i had a fear this might happen when we backed off him.

I worked with a guy who has a cousin who played beside him.....he said he couldnt believe LSU didnt offer him. This guy played college ball also so he knows what hes talking about. I dont know much about him so I have no personal opinion, just going by what I heard. FWIW the guy I worked with has been to every game since L.Byrd was there.

I wish Molton would somehow become a star, because this has Big Mistake written all over it.

Well I know Auburn was in good with Byrd and I don't remember what happened but we could of used him as well.

I was a little skeptical about not offering Byrd as well. The guy was/is a great athlete with plenty of size.

That is speculation - if he had come to camp there is no guarantee he would have outperformed Molton because Molton did come and tore it up. No matter what Byrd does/is doing at Miami, until we see what Molton has to offer (will be here in August) we can't say one way or another (well we can, as all fans do complain about this or that guy...but it can't be accurate until we've seen both).

of course, philter. i am just asking everyone to look into their crystal balls and give an opinion. the question of molton or byrd was one of the more intriguing questions of the recruiting process for us last year. and though byrd's no show at camp was completely the reason for molton taking his spot, it did play a part.

In all honesty coming from someone who watched my Canes stink up the joint on defense against Oklahoma and the likes of Virginia and in general since 40-3, tearing it up in the summer against our defense isn't necessarily that big of a deal.

You idiots must be waiting for the hand-wringers convention to start. Molton and Bird were both rated 3 stars and were only separated by a coin flip. There is no telling who will be the better player.

The fact that we are so loaded at WR, Bird has the better chance at making the starting lineup at Miami.

Give Molton a year in the weight room and no telling how he turns out.

I kinda agree with the original poster. I really liked Byrd and wish we had a spot for him.

That said I'm not writing off Molton.
