And whatever one may think of that situation, it shouldn't affect one's view on this current matter which is that Trump is Constitutionally obligated to discharge his Presidential duties up until the last second of his current term. Meaning he's obligated to fill this vacancy.
1. Kudos for even attempting the intellectual honesty that’s rare here.
2. Did Turtle and Obama not have those same obligations to fulfill their constitutional roles for Garland?

I actually addressed that issue in another thread. Honestly, I can't avoid saying that I'm conflicted about that. Obviously the glaring difference is involvement of a lame duck President, but I'm still not settled about it. Not at all. Was there some other precedent to that particular end that they relied upon?

Biden wants SCOTUS in a 4-4 decision for mail in voting.
This is a great point. Trump needs to use this and get going.

As you should be.
It was an unprecedented power grab by Turtle then and the hypocrisy won’t matter one bit now.
Power will always trump principle at this level.

1. Lame duck president
2. Opposing Senate Majority
3. Check & Balances are real
4. Elections have conseqences

you never addressed the question.
Does a President lose the ability the nominate a Justice the day his second term begins if the opposition controls the Senate?

Yes McConnell refused to take a vote on Obama’s nomination but guess what...

Was there a timeframe aspect in whatever precedent they looked to? As in "during the last month of lame duck Presidency" or "last two months...." etc?

It was ten months before
Almost a full year.

No. The voters picked Hillary Clinton by a margin of approx. 3 million votes.

Lol you don't know how the Constitution works.

Scalia's death brought about an unusual situation in which a Democratic president had the opportunity to appoint a Supreme Court justice while the Republicans controlled the United States Senate. Before 2016, such a situation had last arisen in 1895, when a Republican-led Senate confirmed Democrat Grover Cleveland's nomination of Rufus Wheeler Peckham to the Court in a voice vote; conversely, in 1988 a Democratic-led Senate had confirmed Republican Ronald Reagan's nomination of Anthony Kennedy.

No. Turtle had the votes/control to wait the next election out. That’s the difference between a Republican controlled senate and democrat controlled senate.

That’s fine. But “advice and consent”
Presupposes good faith, not a declaration that any nominee is a non-starter and will be voted down.
I think it’s clearly the new normal and we may not have a Senate confirm someone from the opposite party for awhile.

Well, there's no better time than the present to be correct in one's actions. So if I'm still conflicted about that previous matter then it stands to reason that I would root for the right thing to happen here, which IMO is nomination by Trump and confirmation hearings to swiftly follow. Amirite?

And you get to decide what’s good faith?
I don’t see the real issue here. There’s a reason voters put republicans in a majority. Checks and balances isn’t a thing only 3 out of 4 years.
