re: How can an NFL rookie get out of their contract after year 1? Is it possible?

frick that.
It isn't chicken shite to say you're worried about your health, safety, and career because your employer doesn't give a frick about any of those things.
Teams who are picking #1 overall are there for a reason. Rookie QB contracts allow those teams to get competitive quickly. A few good moves this offseason will have Cincinnati competing for a playoff spot next year if. Burrow is the real deal.
Also, to respond to your OP:

Really don't want Burrow's potential wasted like Palmer's.
In Palmer's 3rd season, they were arguably the best team in the NFL and IMO would have won the Super Bowl had Palmer not gotten his knee blown out on a freak play early in their playoff game against Pittsburgh. He was never really the same player and they were never the same team after that.

The Bengals are in a perpetual state of rebuilding.
Not they aren’t
In their last 10 seasons they have 2 division titles and 5 playoff appearances
In that span from 2011-2015 made the playoffs every year and won the nfc north twice
They aren’t always rebuilding, but they are now

He has too much talent to waste it being another David Carr that gets sacked 10 times a game.
He has been sacked 3 times each game. Go look at the David Carr years. He would have been giddy if he only got sacked 3 times a game.

He's escaped more sacks than that.
Dude is running for his life on almost every drop back.

He has every right to demand a trade
And the Bengals also have every right to laugh at him when he does as they continue to build a competitive roster.

Some(not all) LSU fans really need to calm down. He’s played two games and looked good. Players who go number one overall go to bad teams who need a rebuild. They don’t go to super bowl contending teams right off the bat.
I figured we’d see some threads like this but damn they’re piling up on here.

You do realize that, in a team sport with 53 players on it...often times that is the case? It IS someone else's fault.

Great 5 year sample there. Unfortunately it is an anomalous short period when look at their franchise history.
In the last 4 years prior to drafting Burrow they were 21-42 with no playoff appearances and the 20 years prior to that 5 year sample you gave they were 115-204 with 2 playoff appearances.
The ownership is terrible.

Of course. He's the QB though. The really good ones make chicken salad out of chicken shite eventually. Great QB's are never on terrible teams and there's a reason for that.

No debating that
You said they’re always rebuilding though, they were not in those years i stated
A great player should turn a franchise around
Look at the Colts before Manning Dog shite
Saints before Brees/Payton- Dog shite

He needs to stop costing his team games if he loves winning so much. Choke job int last week with chance to win game under 5mins. This week backed up against his own end zone after his def just had an amazing 4th down stop he puts the ball on the ground, and gives it back to them for a td. 2 weeks in a row his turnover cost the game

Rookie QB makes rookie mistakes. News at 11.

What would you call leading the offense down the field for a game winning FG, only for it to be missed? Then leading the offense to 30 points in a losing effort?
That’s the definition of making chicken salad out of chicken shite.

Wait....The Bengals kicker didn’t miss a FG after the offense set up a winning drive?
Man, people owe Randy Bullock an apology.

So what you are saying is the REST of the team played good enough to win the 1st two games , yet they lost because of Burrow??????
Football much?????

How many QBs need to have their careers ruined there before the NFL demands they make improvements?
How was Dalton’s career ruined? And Palmer? Carson had a bad injury in the playoffs of 2005 I believe, but still managed a solid career.

Can the Competition Committee get involved and say they aren't trying to win or protect players and must do something?
This team made the playoffs 5 of the last 10 years. It’s not like they’ve tanked for a decade.

And I believe he can do that
It’s just game fricking 2 for him
People need to pump the breaks
Year one Baker was a god, now he’s got one foot out the door

As far as what I’ve seen so far this season??????
Burrow>>>>>>>>>>>> Baker.
Burrow>>>>>>>>>>>> Baker.
