Just bought my first house last month, I have noticed in the last month that the weed growth is crazy fast. Looking for an effective way to rid these weeds and atleast slow down their growth without killing my plants. I mean theyre growing fast.

You ever heard the saying "you are growing like a weed?" If it is in your flower beds I just shoot it with round up.

I think you just have to pull them. I usually pick one flower bed and pull all the weeds after I cut the grass. The other couple of beds I'll just pull any really obvious ones. Next week pick a new bed. They don't stop coming.

That’s pretty much my method of attack and I’ll also spray roundup every other week or so.

I am an avid fan of landscaping fabric under the mulch. Some folks hate on it, but it is fantastic at keeping weeds in check. It is some work if you already have your mulch down but it is worth it.

Organic fertilizers. If you make your soil healthy, the weeds have trouble growing in it. The love nutrient depleted soils.

Pull them, then layers of newspaper each time you do mulch. Will take time, but I've seen 90% less after a year of that process.
