I helps to remember that there's an industry of people whose business model is to profit from exaggerating relatively minor political differences into Epic Controversies. Just as surely as The Weather Channel tries to maximize hurricane hysteria for clicks and eyeballs, so the Maddows and the CNNs on the left, and the Limbaughs and Fox on the right, whip up political hysteria for profit.
