Gotcha. I’ve gotten deep into it and love the damage mechanics in tank battles. just unlocked the tiger II tank and it is a beast

World of Tanks Blitz has been a good distraction. Mobile game but lots of players take it seriously.

I played for a bit on ps4. It was fun, but it being a direct port of the PC version didn’t really lend itself well to console.
Add in the fact that PC players have a complete and total advantage over console in that game and it just got to be no fun after a while.
Played the frick out of world of tanks for a couple years with a group. Haven’t played that regularly in a year or so though

The only game that I got that deep into was “World of Warships” and I haven’t been playing that much recently.

I played it a few years ago. I enjoyed it but it's just so damned grindy and I don't really game as much as I used to. Same with World of Warships.
ETA: I still have it downloaded I think so I'll let you know if I decide to get back on it.

Yea it is a grind but I’m at a point now where I play either German tech tree at 5.3 or play with the Russians at 4.3. Hate they made the king tiger 7.0

The amount of time I had to put in just to get a Tier X ship only for it to be nerfed with a set of updates made me not want to play anymore.

Sadly I would probably enjoy the flying more with a joystick but haven't used one in ages. How's the flying using a controller?

And it's not just that...to be good at the game you need to grind up several ships of each type from all of the different countries to at least Tier 6 so you can understand all of the ships strengths and weaknesses. And then once you get ahold of the it all you end up getting matched with people who either YOLO or hide behind mountains the entire match. frick that.

Then the people behind the mountains then act like "Flamu," the worst WoWs streamer on Twitch. Tier IV and below are the most fun in my opinion but you can't complete challenges at that level.

War thunder is a free game to download and you can play with tanks, aircraft or ships in battles against other players.
I don’t play the aircraft side very much but when I did I tried to use my t flight hotas joystick that I used for Ace Combat and it was very buggy. The downside for me, as a console player, is this game better suits a really good PC setup.
In saying that, I did use my PS4 controller for flying after that and it was fine. I enjoy the tank combat more so that’s all I play now.
It’s a really fun game and I’ve enjoyed grinding my way up the German, US and Russian tech trees. I’m not a military vet so I can’t speak to the direct realism but I think they do a good job of armor penetration effects and the actual historical look of the tanks

agreed. it's been a few years but I remember they did a great job with this.
