Finally bought one. Any good workout suggestions?

Plenty on the Concept2 forum. A few:
-20 rounds 1:00 work 1:00 rest. There’s plenty of variations of that.
-750m repeats. 1:30 rest in between.
-50cal Row, 50 sit-ups 40cal row, 40 sit-ups.....down to 10cal row 10 sit-ups. Or substitute some other movement like pushups, jumping split lunges, etc.

Check to see if they have any erg races in your area scheduled for next year. It would give you motivation to train and a goal to reach.

You can sign up for a daily email on the Concept2 website - the email will have a short, medium and long work out each day with other random tips.

Is rowing good for strength or just cardio

I’m not sure what erg races are, but does anyone here know how I can get a small wooden rowboat?

I do 20 sets of 30 sec row 30 sec rest. Every once in a while I'll try the 2000M in 7 minutes, it never happens tho. Lol

Technique is so important. My times still suck, but I'm doing the same distance and pace now with my pulse at 144 as I was doing at 162 before.

Funny to come here and see this thread. I just finished a 30 minute rowing workout. I used to row about three days a week, years ago, but I haven't done it since then, so I don't really remember what my times/speeds were.
My friend and I were talking about rowing the other night and I decided I wanted to get back into it a little.
So today, I did 6000m in 30 mins, or 200m/minute. I could have went 40 minutes, but I didn't want to over do my first day.
Is that a decent speed? Or at least a decent speed for someone who hasn't done cardio in a year (just lifting weights)?

That's a decent time for me. However I don't claim to be the world's greatest rower.

that is a 2:30 per 500m and you held it for 30 minutes, so yes, that is a decent speed/time for that distance
if you want something to gauge by, a good time for a 5000m row would be 20 minutes, which is a 2:00 min per 500 m pace

I can row at a 2:30 pace all day. I'm lucky if I can make it through 1000 meters on a 2:00 pace.
