Wow, I actually saw Harrison Ford try method acting in "42" and he was pretty lousy at it.

I'm assuming its the reason he plays Harrison Ford in his movies.
BTW,the N-word was frequently thrown around (this was on regular cable) Kinda strange...usually the N-word is censored ad nauseam in movies replayed on cable

I thought he did okay as Branch Rickey.

How do you know it was method? Were you there with him when he was learning the role and rehearsing his lines? Are you sure you know what method acting is?

So, he quite literally didn't method act for this role:

Harrison Ford: I don't think there was any particular challenge to it at all. I'm from the "let's pretend" school of acting. It's not very complicated for me. I had a lot of material that I could use for research on Branch Rickey. There were a lot of things written about him and that he wrote. It makes it actually easier because there was so much background for the character. I didn't have to make much up. I thought it was a terrific script so it was clear what the job to be done by the character in any given scene. A good director and wonderful actors to worth: it was pure joy.

how do you see someone try method acting by watching the actual movie?

I have to go with Fili here... I'm not sure you hit the nail on the head RD.

Yes he had to play an actual real life character instead of just an action hero...but how do you know he was terrible unless you knew a lot about the real Branch Rickey?

Oof. Not only was it not method acting, he was pretty solid in that role. What was the endgame here?

What?No he wasn't

He couldn't be any worse than he is is as a pilot. They should have taken his license away a long time ago. It'd be nice if they'd take that gay earring out of his 80 year old ear too, while they're at it.

By watching someone like James Dean or Marlon Brando overacting?

Just cos Wesley Snipes could method act in Blade doesn't mean everyone else can pull it off, too.

Are you kidding? Ford actually transformed himself into a 70 year old curmudgeon for this movie. I believed that was him.
