Ya see the problem with your argument here is that the chiefs actually pay their players a salary. So there’s a bit of an incentive to keep playing more than their rookie season

Well, I'll say it since no one else has; players in the NFL are playing for their second contract. That's the big payday, so they haven't accomplished everything on their bucket list.

Once they get the second contract, then sure, they might mail it in.

Probably has something to do with the money, in addition to competing and winning.
